With
so much excitement nowadays, theeree's not much time for a proper BCS title game preview, but we're certain enough approximately who to side with tonight.
(Who's Watchhing tonight's BCS Title game? THIS guy!)
Remember back in mid-October when we nearly caused most Las Vegas sportsbooks to shut down with our 9-1 ATS run while we were out west? Remember
how we bought a brown chinchilla coat with some of our winnings, and used 10 units of the rest to wager on Alabama at 3-1 to win this BCS Title game?
The question for us tonight is if to hedge or press, and we're hedging.
Our wager in October wasn't necessarily a wager that the Tide would win, but rather just that they'd blast up in the game as favorites, giving us the opportunity to play both sides.
But we'd be playing Texas tonight either way, because the final team to be such a lock to blast up in the BCS title game since this Alabama squad was Heisman-winner Troy Smith's 2oo7 Buckeyes, who came off of a month of everyone telling them whaTt champs they were on the banquet circuit to get pasted by a Florida Gator team that nobody gave a chance to win coming in.
We think the impact of that month by the Buckeyes on the banquet circuit has been underappreciated to the extent its allowed folks to conclude that the SEC is as much better than the Big Ten or any other conference as so many have come to consider. The respective performances of SEC and Big Ten teams this bowl season suggests a regression to a norm.
A month on the banquet circuit as a consensus BCS favorite might be too much for any group of teenagers to overcome, but tonight the Tide might be playing with the added heaviness of carrying the torch for an overrated conference.
The Longhorns defense is good enough to keep them in this game against the Tide's offense, and Texas' trial by fire against Nebraska's defense should turn out to have been a big help.
We'll be pulling for Alabama to win by a field goal. Hope everyone enjoys.
